  We made a last minute decision to take a short holiday, and were able to get 4 nights in Spur of the Moment. This was our third time staying with Elk Springs Resort and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful, clean, well equipped, and positioned so that when we were enjoying the deck, we felt like we were in the middle of the forest with no neighbours. It has a very relaxing atmosphere, and feels like home|

  My best friend and I are both in the military, and we haven't been able to see each other in quite some time, but we managed to land a weekend leave at the same time and decided to stay in Spur of the Moment (appropriately named) ...easily the best decision we could have made. We spent a relaxing weekend with our wives enjoying all that the small shops at the bottom of the mountain and returned to a cabin in the woods with all the amenities of our home and more. I've already recommended this trip to plenty of my friends and my parents. I can't wait to return to ‘Spur of the Moments’ next year!

  Overall a great cabin. It could use some sort of drawers in the master and a light on both sides of the bed. Both toilets were finicky. We were disappointed we didn't see more wildlife. There isn't much of a view but is surrounded by trees. Secluded but not too far from Gatlinburg. Very easy to find and close to a grocery store.

  After a couple of weeks touring the south staying in chain motels we ciuldnt believe we could get this place for little more - around $190 US per night in July for a family if four. The only problem was the cabin was so great we didn't see enough of the mountains! Pool table, fussball, hot tub and amazing 14 ft shower were highlights along with massive space, seclusion and leather settees. The sign as you arrive warns you may not want to ever leave. Don't know about ever but certainly would gave liked to stay longer. Less than 10 mins drive to G.burg and 5 to large store. Perfect. We'd give it a perfect 5.

  A little disappointed with the view.
  The hot tub needed a little maint - light was not working.
  There was a criter in the walls of the cabin that caused some anxiety.
  When we did call about the firepalace and missing remote the staff was very responsive. The cabin did not offer enough seating for the family to all sit down comfortably at once and watch TV. I would stay again, but perhaps look for a cabin with better accommodations.

  We stayed in the "Spur of the Moment" cabin. The cabin was beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to stay an extra night. The cabin was right next to two other cabins; we thought it would be a bit more secluded. Also, the heater made a loud clicking noise continually throughout the night and the gas grill igniter didn't work. The Elk Springs Resort employee I talked to at the end of our stay said she would tell maintenance about the issues and have them resolved. Overall, it is a lovely cabin.

  This 2 bedroom cabin is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the Elk Springs Resort. It was clean and comfortable for our 5 day stay. The location is right off of the Gatlinburg art loop where we spent 2 days going through all the shops. There are also great hiking trails nearby. We'd stay here again.

  My wife and I just returned from a beautiful vacation in the Smokey Mountains and we enjoyed every moment while celebrating her 40th birthday at the Elks Springs Resort. Our cabin was "Spur of the Moment", it was clean, it was breath taking, it was serene, and most of all it was romantic. We will most definitely return and hopefully with family during the Thanksgiving holiday. The resort is amazing and we highly recommend these cabins to anyone who is looking to spend time in the Smokey Mountains.

  Didn't like kitchen table. It was a picnic table style. Wanted normal chairs. Also, wanted blinds that blocked out the sunlight in the bedrooms.

  If you've seen the movie Furry Vengeance, that's kinda how we felt in Spur of the Moment. Our 3rd night, there were loud, angry chipmunks running all through the walls ans screeching. It was scary! BUT we loved our cabin and loved Elk Springs Resort and can't wait to go back!
  
  The location is perfect! The cabins are beautiful and kept immaculately clean! The staff was wonderful to work with before and during our trip. Except for the issue with chipmunks, which happens I suppose, it really was amazing! We learned they had gone to extreme measures to get rid of the chipmunks but that it had been a problem with Spur of the Moment in particular. They were very nice about the problem, though. The only difficult thing was reaching the office since the phone service (cell and land line) in the cabin was hit or miss. The office staff is fantastic and very responsive to any problem or request...but the only way to really reach them is by email.
  
  I'm already talking to people about renting 3 or 4 cabins and doing a family reunion there in 2012! Loved it!!

    Glad you were able to find the chipmunk problem entertaining! We've really never had a problem like that before and I think we finally remedied the problem. There was a little hole they chewed into to get in the cabin and we sealed it up, trapped and released the chipmunks off site. Sorry for the inconvenience and we hope to see you this spring! (remember, you get 10% all future stays as a repeat guest)

  We had a wonderful time staying at Spur of the Moment. The cabin was perfect for our family of 7. It's in a great location, easy access to downtown Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains but far enough to feel like you've gotten away.
  
  The rain shower and hot tub were also a big hit with the kids. Staff was quick to respond to any issues we had. We would definately recommend Elk Springs and Spur of the Moment.

  We really enjoyed our cabin. Just a few helpful hints, the cabin was a bit dusty, the cleaners could have spent more time sweeping and wiping things down, and the deck needed sprayed off. There were big piles of bird poop in spots on the deck and back windows. Other than that we really liked it alot. We will return!

  Enjoyed our stay at Elk Springs Resort, we were there to celebrate our daughter's birthday, so we had 6 kids with us. The location was close to town. We had some difficulty finding it as we arrived in the dark. I cooked many meals and felt the kitchen needed hot pads, trivets and cookie sheets to complete the kitchen utensils. The cabin needed to be spruced up prior to our arrival as there were many dead bugs along the window sills. Overall, the cabin was nice and our stay was enjoyable. I would recommend the resort to friends and family.

  Since this was our first trip to the area, my wife researched cabins for a long time before booking. Cleanliness, the quality of the furnishings, draining of the hot-tub, views, were all high priorities. We were NOT DISAPPOINTED with all of these things at Elk Springs! We had a relaxing 6 nights at Spur of the Moment. Normally we love to eat out, but we loved being at the cabin so much that we cooked in a good bit. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. The beds were super comfy. The fireplaces were cozy. Our 11 year old son played pool A LOT! We did enjoy several shows/ attractions at night, but the most enjoyable times of our trip were spent just relaxing, reading, playing at the cabin. We will be back. The only complaint we have is that loud banging noise when we ran hot water in the rain shower or heart tub! It was annoying, but we didn't feel like calling maintenance. I had read other comments about the noise... it is LOUD. We will be back and will share Elk Springs with our friends and family!

  The overall stay was lovely. We did have an issue with loud noise coming from the pipes everytime we turned on the water in the shower or tub. Probably air in pipes. So loud you could actually hear it down the road! We didn't report it because we didn't want workers in the cabin while we stayed there. Also the hinges on both bedroom and bathroom doors squeaked loudly which would wake someone up if sleeping. The name of our city is Punta Gorda NOT Petagora, FL. Please correct(we will plan to come again because we love the area)

  We found Elk Springs in an online search and didn't have much to go off of but the website. It turned out to be even better than anticipated! The cabin was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The cabin was in the perfect location, a beautiful section of the arts and crafts district, and 5 min. from the heart of Gatlinburg.   This was our first vacation stay at a cabin and WOW was it wonderful! There is something mystical about the cabin area and we enjoyed it all. We had no problems unloading and loading the motorcycle off a trailer, just as Andy told me (and glad he recommended plywood for the stand). The weather was really wet during our visit, but we had no problems. Our next visit, I believe I would request a cabin with a fully covered deck, just in case it rains(even though the view might not be as good).

  We all enjoyed the stay at the cabin very much. The only suggestion I would like to make is the advertisement mentions a pool that can be used by guests. I had a hard time finding the pool and did not realize there is a small fee to use the pool. It is only $2.00 per person. It would have been nice to know the fee ahead of time and directions. All in all, the cabin was excellent. My husband and I want to come back alone!

  We had an Awesome time at "Spur of the Moment" cabin. Everything was as advertised and we were not disapointed at all. We had a wonderful weekend and would love to return. Location was great and easy to get to compared to other cabins we have stayed at. Just some comments that would have made a outstanding stay better. Some furniture in the master suite would have been nice. While the closet was large there was no place to put folded clothing or even a suitcase rack for luggage. My wife used the floor and I used the foosball table outside the bedroom door.
  Nightstand(s) with lamps would have been a nice improvement. I found it difficult to find the light switch by the entrance door in the middle of the night amongst the switches for fan, fireplace and lights. With just one recessed light above the sink in the master suite it was hard to see to shave. More lighting in this area would be a great addition. We loved the big screen TV/DVD player in the rec room area, problem was the TV sat back so far you practically had to stand up everytime you wanted to use the remote. The main entrance way could use a shade/blind or some thing to allow a little privacy for anyone using the sleeper/sofa on the main floor. Housekeeping should also check the ice maker between visitors. We found all the ice frozen in a ball and the dispenser not working. We just took it out and let it thaw, cleaned it and it worked perfectly the rest of our stay. None of these things affected our enjoyment of the cabin, but attention to the small details is what keeps people coming back again and again. You've got a great start, just keep up the good work. Thanks for letting me comment. I hope that changes can be made for the next guest at "Spur of the Moment".

  Was a great stay at a great place! Very clean, and roomy! The peace and quiet was so needed and I would recommend this resort to anyone. The only negative thing is that it wouldn't be a great place for young children. There is not really any where on the immediate property for them to get out and "play". Otherwise, for couples or groups wanting to get away from it all, this is the place to do it!

  When we arrived at 6:15pm, the office was closed. The owner of the Restuarant came outside and gave us a phone number to call. She said this happens often. The confirmation email said they were open until 9:00 pm on Fridays. This did not make a very good first impression. we had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come and give us the code and direct us to our cabin. The cabin was beautiful and well equiped. The only problem we had with the cabin was three of the pool sticks were missing the leather tips and there was a loose tile in the shower.

Our only concerns were the slight odor of mildew in the shower (it must be hard to clean with the height) and we did have a slight reaction to the amount of chlorine in the hot tub. Additionally, the unpaved road made it difficult to traverse through the mud. Overall, the experience was great and we plan to come back.   Great rain shower, Great view, GREAT cabin! The kids loved the queen bunk beds and the games! The only temporary drawback I can think of is it is one of the newest cabins on the property, and they are building a couple cabins on the same side street, so it is currently on a gravel road.
